Remembering George Floyd

Letter From Birmingham City Jail (Dr Martin Luther King)

Raj Saha | Tue, 25th May 2021

1 year ago today the harrowing cries of this man’s dying gasps, ‘I cant breathe…I can’t breathe’, set in motion an urgency and a resolve to address racism across the globe in all its forms and all its guises. This rendition of Dr Martin Luther King Junior’s Letter From Birmingham City Jail is a reminder, as Dr John M Perkins, Christian minister and civil rights activist said, ‘there is no institution on earth more equipped and capable of bringing transformation to the cause of reconciliation than the Church. But we have some hard work to do’. Let’s take heed of Dr King's message and pray for justice to roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream (Amos 5:24).
