Good Morning!

Today's Talk

Watch today's talk from Gavin.

Time to Pray

We would love to give you an opportunity to respond to what was shared this morning. If you are watching this with your children, encourage them to get involved with the prayer response too.

  • Think about some of the things God has promised you in the past. - Pray into this and ask God for a fresh sense of faithfulness.
  • Ask God to give you a passion for prayer, worship and his word, pray for opportunities this week to cultivate these areas.
  • What are some of the areas you are lacking in faithfulness for? - Ask God to give you a new sense of faithfulness this week.

Fun Fact

"Old Faithful" is a cone geyser located in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, United States. It was named in 1870 during the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition and was the first geyser in the park to receive a name.  It is a highly predictable geothermal feature, and has erupted every 44 minutes to two hours since 2000. Click here to see a 16 second clip of it erupting!

Song
Here’s the song, Goodness of God by Bethel Music. Why not learn the actions to it here.

Memory Verse
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
His love is new every morning, new every morning
Great is your faithfulness, (O Lord) great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3: 22-23)

This video will help you to remember this verse!

A look at what faithfulness means
God never breaks a promise.  God never makes promises He cannot keep. And he never forgets.  God's promises are sure.  God is faithful - from Leading little ones to God - A child's book of Bible teachings by Marian M Schoolland (p39-40)

Nothing is heavier than one's head when one is struggling; raising one's eyes requires great effort.  Yet such effort is exactly what is called for here.  The man takes himself in hand.  He makes a decision, voluntarily affirming his faith, and acts with resolution and determination.  Lift up his eyes, he looks beyond the current situation, and focuses his thoughts on God, whose goodness and compassion have not failed (Lamentations 3:22).  More than that, they are new every morning (Lamentations 3:23).  Circumstances have changed, but God has not.  The more the author thinks about it, the more he recognises that the Lord is his real treasure, more precious than the riches of the temple and the city that he loves. - from Africa Bible Commentary (p929) edited by Tokunboh Adeyemo. Contributor on this section on the book of Lamentations, Issiaka Coulibaly

As God is faithful, God loves us to be faithful.  This means being: trustworthy, reliable, loyal to God and His Word, full of belief and confidence in God and His promises, as the writer of Lamentations was.  God gives us the gift of faith, and we can choose to lift our eyes to God in faith.

Craft: A tree in four seasons
Use thin cardboard/cereal box.  Make a tree using this template as a guide.  Draw around template x4 and colour in and use glitter/coloured paper/paint etc as desired to decorate one tree for each season.  Fold each tree along the middle, and stick together in season order. Write "Great is your faithfulness" Lam 3:23 on each picture of the tree to remember God is faithful through all the seasons of life.

Prayer

Father, it is good to know that you are faithful and almighty, always keeping your promises.  And your promises to us are so wonderful!

Please help me to be faithful, and loyal to you, full of faith in you, and your promises. Amen.

prayer from Leading little ones to God - A child's book of Bible teachings by Marian M Schoolland (p39-40)
