Time to Pray

We would love to give you an opportunity to respond to what was shared this morning. If you are watching this with your children, why not encourage them to get involved with the prayer response too.

• Spend some time thanking God that His love for you isn’t based on how good you can be, but on his loving kindness. Thank Him that Jesus didn’t give his life on the cross for ‘good’ people, but for sinners like you and me!
• Ask Jesus to work his goodness in and through you so that might be able to help and encourage those around you.
• If you’re feeling ‘weary’, ask God the Holy Spirit to refresh you and ‘revive your soul’.

• Put these sentences in order to show how the boys showed goodness to the woman:

1. The boys talk to the Principal about their desire to help the woman
2. The boys walk six miles with tools to build the simbeck, and bring food, cloth, blanket for the woman
3. The villagers are astonished with the kindness shown to the woman, and they see the goodness of God in these boys
4. The boys buy cloth and and a blanket
5. The woman is overwhelmed with the goodness shown to her
6. The boys choose to give up their time, money, energy, and food to help the woman
7. The boys think and talk together about how to help the woman
8. The boys build another simbeck after a year 
9. The boys take turns walking six miles each way, twice a day to bring food to the woman
10. God stirred compassion in the hearts of the boys for the woman.

 

• Why do you think the boys wanted to do good to the woman?
• God doesn’t love you based on how good you can be. He loves you because of his mercy and loving kindness and he sent Jesus so we could have friendship with Him. Spend some time talking to God and thanking Him for this.
• Make a card or picture for someone (a neighbour/key worker/friend) to thank them for the goodness they are showing at this time.
