Today's Talk

Watch today's talk from Gavin.

Time to Pray

It would be great to respond to this wherever you are this morning. We want to encourage you to do just that. There are a few ways we can respond to what Gavin has shared, the obvious starting point is with worship and thankfulness.

  • Why don't you take a few minutes, on your own, or as a family to make a list of things to thank God for. It could be that you mention aspects of his character 'thank you God that you are a good father, thank you God that you are full of grace and truth' etc. It could be saying thank you for things he has done in your life, it could be a breakthrough in a situation you have faced or are facing. Set your eyes on Jesus and spend some time thanking him, generally once you start listing things to thank Jesus for, you never run out!
  • Secondly it is vitally important to look outwards and pray for the obvious situation we are facing, spend some time thanking God for our government and the decisions they are making, praying for those in power. Also pray for the staff on the front line, healthcare staff, retail staff, teaching staff, emergancy services and many others who are potentially having to work longer and more unsociable hours during this time.
  • Finally spend some time praying for those who might be at risk and who may feel isolated at the moment, it could be people you know, you could name them specifically, it could be others generally, spend some time in prayer for these people. You might even want to write their names down so that you have something to focus on while you pray.

Let's be people who go straight to prayer during this time, as Andrew Murray says; "we must begin to believe that God, in the mystery of prayer, has entrusted us with a force that can move the heavenly world, and bring its power down to earth." - Prayer is the most powerful tool we have, be encouraged!

Want to Give?

We know that a number of you give on a Sunday morning through the collection. There's still an opportunity to give through our giving page. Alternatively you can find all the details there to make a gift through your bank.

Stay in touch

More than ever, this is a time to encourage, support and pray for each other. Please do contact those people you know or that might need extra help. If you want to contact one of the leadership team, use the contact us page and one of us will be in touch.

The Wise and Foolish Builder
Building on Firm Foundations
Matthew 7:24 - 29
19th Jan 2020

As we celebrate Baby Thanksgivings Gavin challenges us with one of Jesus' most famous parables. In this story, Jesus talks about two different builders, both looking to build something significant and lasting. From the outside, the buildings probably looked very similar. It is only when the storm comes that we see the fundamental difference between things built on firm foundations and things build on sand. What are you building your life on?
