It All Starts And Ends With Jesus!

‘Vision is a picture of the future that creates passion in people’

As Jesus kicked of his 3-year demonstration of what living life to the full looked like, we read in Luke 4 that he quoted a few verses from an ancient manuscript, Isaiah 61, describing how God saw His plan developing and how His ‘children’ would contribute to this God-shaping story of hope.

In it there is a beautiful description of God coming to mankind (God the Holy Spirit), changing them from the very inside, healing their brokenness and anxieties, and calling and equipping them to a greater purpose and vision. Everyone who heard this message was amazed. It couldn’t be just ignored... it still can’t!

And so Jubilee Church Teesside is committed to Jesus’ Isaiah 61 ‘kingdom manifesto’ from which we have taken our ‘Jubilee 4 R Vision Statement’:

Receiving Jesus
Reaching Out
Restoring Community
Releasing Everyone

The following will hopefully give you a feel of ‘what we’re about’ and maybe cause you to consider being part of us.

Receiving Jesus

‘No one has ever discovered the words Jesus ought to have said or the deed he ought to have done. Nothing he does falls short, in fact he is always surprising you...always taking your breath away. Because he’s better than you could imagine’ John H Gerstner.

What makes our faith unique? It's because ‘The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me (Isaiah 61:1)’, God the Holy Spirit, making the truth and love of God the Father and life saving work of the Son of God, Jesus, real and active in us and through us.

That means the following are important to us:

  • Dynamic prayer gatherings
  • Intelligent Biblical teaching
  • All out worship in spirit and truth

Reaching Out

Jesus’ ‘Great Commission’ (Matthew 28:16) encourages us to be joyfully transformed people, passionate about engaging and befriending others and bringing the life-changing activity of God to society around us… A ‘Going’ Church on a Mission!

That means the following are important to us:

  • Making friends and running the Alpha Course
  • Growing encouraging communities that people want to be part of
  • Pursuing social justice and engagement
  • Supporting churches and projects in other nations
  • Welcoming local university and college students
  • Starting new churches

Restoring Community

‘God isn’t simply saving diverse individuals and preparing them for heaven; rather he is miraculously creating a people for his name, among whom God can dwell and who in her life together will produce God's life and character in all its unity and diversity and joy’ Gordon Fee.

Our Community Life across Teesside is the skeleton that holds us together, shapes and moulds us, provides clear care structures and mobilises us to be a church sent out. We would encourage everyone to be a part of it and bring others along!

That means the following are important to us:

  • Joining and contributing to our community groups
  • Welcoming and supporting new people to the church
  • Building up our children and young people
  • Growing a diverse community

Releasing Everyone

‘For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do’ Ephesians 2:10

In the church ‘everyone’ is welcome and has God-given purpose. Together we want to encourage and facilitate the expression of ‘everyone’ in God’s great church tapestry!

That means the following are important to us:

  • Caring for one another
  • Pursuing a culture of service in and outside the church
  • Training and releasing leaders
  • Developing a missional hub from which we coordinate our activities
  • Exploring prophetic creativity and art
  • Encouraging generosity

“We believe that the Church is the hope of the world, the Bride of Christ. Ultimately we exist to see the Kingdom of God demonstrated here in Teesside, throughout the UK, and out into the wider world. This means loving your neighbour, caring for the poor and sharing the joy news of Jesus.”
